The second, and last one of 2016, Wedding Wednesday!
This Wednesday, we thought we would use an interview some of the ladies up front did for A Classic Affair. They provided some great questions that give great insight to how we are as a company. Plus, how we love helping out with weddings!
Who are you, separate from your business?
Antasia: I am a native of the Pacific Northwest and spent most of my childhood in Washington. I love to travel and actually lived in China for a year with my family my junior year of high school. After spending 6 years in Arkansas pursuing my bachelor’s degree, the Pacific Northwest called me back home. I’m excited to be back! When not at work, I love to binge watch my favorite shows on Netflix and Hulu, go outdoors, and spend time with family.
MJ: I am an Asian Pacific Islander, born and raised in Sea-Tac, Washington. I am a first generation student pursuing a degree in Business at Portland Community College. I will be transferring to Portland State University starting winter of 2017. As a college student working at The Party Pros, my time is mostly spent on homework, work, and family. So outside of work, I am usually working on homework or spending time with family.
What’s your favorite thing about weddings in the Pacific Northwest?
Antasia: I have always appreciated the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. It has so much to offer; beaches, desert, the forest, mountains, lakes, rivers. You can experience so much with just a couple hours’ drive. It creates the perfect backdrop for any couple.
MJ: The best thing about having a wedding in the Pacific Northwest is having everything around you be natural. By that I mean, everything is lively: trees around you, grass is greener, and the air is fresher.
Why did you decide to start your business?
Antasia: The Party Pros has been around for over 10 years. While MJ and I were not a part of the conception of the company, we have been working here long enough to see what a great company it is. We’re by no means a mom and pop business, but we’re definitely a family here and do our best to give that same experience to our customers. We all love being in the event rental business. There’s always something new or interesting to encounter. Like our owner, Kevin, always says, the event rental business is like a jigsaw puzzle and we work every day to fit everything together to make every event a success.
MJ: As Antasia had said, The Party Pros has been in business for over 10 years. I have enjoyed being here working with The Party Pros in helping them with their event success.
What’s your favorite thing about what you do?
Antasia: I love the diversity of everything. One day, I could be helping put together a catering event and the next day, helping with marketing to better the business. Working with all of our amazing, diverse clients with all their different events keeps the job fun and interesting!
MJ: At the end of the day, my favorite thing, is knowing that I had helped and worked with people who were struggling to find great prices and hardworking people.
What are your dreams for your business?
Antasia: MJ and I are working on some really great things. While we work for a larger company, the owners give us complete creative liberties to better the company, whether it be with marketing, visual merchandising, or implementing new inventory. I’m thankful to work for a company that is always seeking growth and challenging us to have our own personal career goals, as well as goals for The Party Pros.
MJ: My dream for The Party Pros is for our business to succeed in every way possible: helping people in their event(s) and making it a success.
What do you recommend to couples planning their wedding and deciding on vendors?
Antasia: First and foremost, go with someone you trust. Your wedding day is stressful enough as it is without having to worry about vendors being late, or heaven forbid, not showing up at all. We always recommend to couples to schedule your delivery the day before your wedding. That way, if something needs to be fixed, it’s not as stressful as trying to come up with a solution or running out another item hours before your ceremony.
MJ: As Antasia had said, “go with someone you trust.” Weddings are something that is memorable, and when you are the bride or groom, you don’t want anything wrong on your order. When working with us, it would help ease the stressfulness on your packed plans.
What are some tips that you can give to couples to make their wedding uniquely their own?
Antasia: Make the wedding about you and your future spouse. Incorporate both of your personalities and tastes. It is about the two of you after all! So many couples get caught up in what other people want that day to be about. While I understand being respectful of people’s suggestions, especially if they’re contributing financially, you want to look back on your wedding day and be happy with all the choices you made.
MJ: Weddings are something memorable and something that should be fun. Don’t be afraid to add in a karaoke machine, a camera and some alcohol for the family! Now that’s something that’ll make the wedding unique!
Till next time!
